As We Arrived

It’s the third day in Peru and it is the first time I’ve been able to write about what god is doing.
Before this trip I was busy I had little time to think about the trip and I was not nearly as excited as I was two years ago. But the moment I walked out of the Lima airport and saw Cesar, Gaby, Janinia, and Pepe, I was so excited to be back. It was the most joyous reunion. We arrived in Lima around 4:30 am after very little sleep.
We had a little trouble in the airport though. On the flight from Wichita to Dallas Matt lost his passport. He didn’t realize it until we were in Miami. We went ahead and boarded the flight for Peru after making some calls to try and track it down. When we arrived in Lima they told Matt that he had to get back on the plane and go back to Miami. There was some time when they were trying to work out the details of Matt returning and it was very emotional for Matt and the team. We did not want the team to be split up. Finally, a man named Raul came up and asked if the copy we had of his passport was an exact copy. When we said yes he let him pass. We had been praying that our team wouldn't be split up and everyone was so happy Matt could stay. We sang a praise song for Raul in the airport and he loved it. It was so awesome to see God use an unfavorable situation for His glory before we were even in Peru.
When we arrived at La Vina it was about 5:30 am. We had a short time to rest before church on Sunday. During service at La Vina we saw friends from 2 years ago and listened to a sermon in Spanish. I don't know what the topic was but from the passages, which I read in English, but I think it was about growing in Christ. I greatly enjoyed praise and worship. All the songs were of course in Spanish but I love looking at the words and eventually catching the tune and lyrics and singing along in Spanish. I think that is what heaven will be like.
After service we had a great time of fellowship with old friends. We had pizza together and then our team went up to rest and nap until dinner and a cultural orentiation. We were very happy for the day to be over and night to bring rest but we were thanking God for everything he had already done and for allowing us to be in this country with wonderful friends.
